My trip to Britain in December -- Day 1 -- December 4, 2007

Okay so I know that it has been awhile since I actually took this trip, but I just started this blog and thought I would put this trip up here since it was one of the major trips of my life.

So here we go.

After a wonderful 7 1/2 hour flight (that's sarcasm :-), we had to go through customs, get a rental (or hired car as they call them in Britain), and head two hours north to Richmond. Once we arrived, we got unpacked and then realized that we needed to stay up for several more hours before we could sleep in order to stave off jet lag as much as possible. So in order to do this, we decided to run around the little town of Richmond. It's small but it is steeped in history and played a major role in British history. Well, I really wanted to see the castle so we decided to do that first. Now you have to remember that Sean mostly grew up in Wales and his parents just moved to Richmond several years ago. So he had NO idea how to actually get to the castle. You would think it would be easy considering there is a huge tower that towers above the town but we had some issues. First we drove off down the wrong street because we couldn't figure out how to get into town center. On the up side. I got some good shots. Here they are.

And I love the rainbow that we got on the first day.

Okay so finally we make it into Richmond town center and have to find out how to actually get to the castle. Again this was easier said than done. We found a sign that said Castle Walk so we thought "Hey!! That must be the way!!" WRONG!! Castle Walk actually went around the castle.

But finally we made it. Unfortunately by the time we actually made it to the castle, we only had 30 minutes before closing. But we tried to make the best of it. It had been a long time since I had been in a castle so I was in heaven!! Plus it was COOOOOOLD!!!! But we were the only ones there, which made for some great pics. Here are a few.

Then we went into the town and did a bit of shopping and decided to have a couple of drinks. We went to the Castle Tavern and then to the King's Head.

Well, it gets dark here in the winter really early, like 4:00, so we headed back to the house after that to try to stay up as late as we could. Come 8:30 though we both couldn't manage it any longer and we decided to pass out. We had a bed that was waaaay to small for two people so we had a difficult night of sleep. But at least it was sleep. . .

Savannah February 23-24, 2008

My friend Val got married on February 23 in Savannah. So my parents, my hubby, and I took a road trip down there (about 4 hours). Here are some of the pics that I took while we were down there. This is truly the heart of the South and I love these.

My New Blog

Okay, so I've decided since Sean and I have been doing so much travelling that I wanted to do a blog about it. Mainly it will probably just be pics. So I hope you enjoy it.
